Stress Management Training
Stress Management Training Brisbane
An Outline by Dana Harris
Overview
Imagine this: It's Wednesday afternoon and Rebecca, a marketing manager I met at a recent networking event in Brisbane, told me she'd been awake since 3am worrying about her presentation. Sound familiar? If so, you're in the 76% of Australian workers who experience stress in the workplace often or regularly. But here's what I've discovered from speaking to hundreds of professionals from across Queensland – stress is not your enemy, it's just information your body is providing you with.
This event is not designed to leave stress in the dust (impossible, and frankly, not all that healthy). Instead, it's about acquiring the abilities to dance with stress rather than be flattened by it. We will go beyond the usual "take a deep breath" advice, and explore tactics that are grounded in evidence and deliver in real office life situations.
I've had the privilege of consulting with Brisbane businesses for many, many years now, and I've discovered something quite interesting: the people in the most easygoing positions in terms of work challenges didn't handle stress better. They're the right ones, the people who have worked out how to identify the early signs of their stress and have an arsenal of (actually effective) responses. This course is all about providing you with that toolkit.

What You Will Learn
Module 1: Knowing Your Stress Blueprint
You're going to find out how you tend to react to stress. Just as Emma, a Brisbane accountant, discovered it wasn't a heavy workload causing her afternoon energy slump, but the fact she was skipping lunch, you will come to understand your body's signs. We'll cover the distinction between positive stress (eustress) and negative stress (distress), so you will be able to recognise when stress is fuelling you and when it's fighting against you.
Module 2: The Toolkit for Managing Your Stress
This isn't a meditation app or a set of yoga poses (although if those things work for you, great!). We will concentrate on useful skills you can apply between meetings, while on a phone or sitting in traffic in Brisbane. You will find out the 4 7 8 breathing exercise, shortcuts for the progressive muscle relaxation, and cognitive reframing techniques that you can use in less than 2 minutes.
Module 3: Setting Boundaries That Actually Work
Think back to when James, a project manager from South Brisbane, used to reply to emails at midnight until his family did an intervention. We'll learn how to set boundaries that actually stick, how to use "no" as a graceful tool (yup, it's possible), how to proactively manage expectations, and how to preserve your energy without seeming like you're not committed to your role.
Module 4: How to Manage Your Schedule to Automatically Reduce Stress
Time failure is the major cause of stress at work. You are going to learn the priority matrix, batching similar tasks effectively, and all about how to deal with interruptions while still being productive. We'll also talk about how to incorporate buffer time in your life and in the scheduling so unexpected asks don't interrupt your entire day. For more comprehensive time management training, this can be a valuable next step.
Module 5: Stress Proof Communication
Much of what contributes to stress at work is a result of communication. You will practice being confident in uncomfortable conversations, offering and receiving feedback constructively, and how to manage conflict before it gets out of hand. This means little hacks to keep you normal when so much around you is stressy or reactive.
Module 6: Developing Your Recovery Program
Stress management isn't just about managing pressure in the moment, what do you do when you get back to your office, or home, or hotel room? You'll code a personalised plan with daily stress busters, weekly reset rituals, and monthly check ins to make sure you are keeping your overall stress in check months down the line. Understanding how to manage workplace wellbeing is crucial for long term success.
Concluding Remarks
Integrated through this innovative approach to stress management are established psychological techniques and useful workplace applications. Instead of prescriptive advice, we will help you to craft your own way of doing things that suits your role, personality and lifestyle. You'll walk away with actionable strategies and the confidence to combat workplace challenges as they arise.
The mission is not to become stress free (not only is that impossible, but it's also not our goal) but to be equipped both mentally and physically to remain stress resilient. When you graduate from this training, you'll be able to turn the stress 'that happens' to you into the stress you are able to handle, so you can be at your best and thrive.
